Tom's Midnight Garden
Last week year 5 went to The Northcott Theatre to see Tom's Midnight Garden. We asked Tom King and Christie Wills what they thought about it.The children want to see it again and said it was really good. Tom said "I enjoyed it very much." Mr Semple and Miss Furlong said the children were very well behaved. Most of the children said it was very scary. The theatre is really big and spacious and they perform a lot of plays for children and adults. The pupils at Redhills have been there a few times and they have always enjoyed it.

Mediation
We have mediation in the school. It is an opportunity for children to get helped to solve their own problems. The Peaceful Warriors is the name of the group that assist the children with their problems. I interviewed Mrs Drake the administrator of the school about the work of the Peaceful Warriors.
" The mediation process can be very helpful as it can stop a little problem turning into a big problem. You have to be careful of people who are just doing it for fun or to get out of class. The posters are fantastic and eye catching. The people chosen do be mediators are kind and mature people."
I also interviewed two pairs of children who have been to a mediation session. This is what they said.
"The mediators are helpful. The advice helped a lot and the solution was great. The posters are eye catching and useful. When I went to the session the mediators were very kind and polite."
On the whole the people who I interviewed like having mediation in the school.

Sunflowers!
Our Sunflowers have bloomed. Sunflowers planted earlier this year have grown tall and strong. A myriad of yellows, greens and browns festoon one side of the pond and along the drive.
One year group, studying 'Still Life' in art, have been busy sketching the flowers. Others have been measuring and comparing the sizes. The tallest is over 2.4m high!

Waste Action Group audits rubbish.
The Waste Action Group began last year and comprises members of Years 4 and 6 and 7. The aim of the group is to cut down the amount of rubbish generated by the school and to increase the amount we recycle.
Matthew from the group told us:
" We are weighing the waste of the school so we can compare the results with our audit from last year. Since our last audit we have made compost to recycle our food and green waste (there are 2 bins at the moment though a third is being planned) and there are green paper recycling bins in every classroom. We are trying to cut down on the number of paper towels used especially."
