Callington Visit.
On the 23rd of March selected children from year 6 and 7 went to Callington Space Centre. The children had to make robots out of Lego to retrieve glasses. They also put a C.D back in its proper place then open a small gate. Pets had to be fed and the right bus stop had to be chosen by programming it with a laptop.
The children were unquestionably looking forward to it because they had to be in school by 8:10am and they got back at 4:30pm. The trip was organised by Mr Price and Mr Brown.

Willow Dome
On the 8th of March a willow dome began to be constructed by the gardening club. The willow dome has been made outside the year reception's classrooms.
The children of Key Stage 1 will use it as a play area.
The dome started off as loads of long branches and short branches, but it was eventually made into the dome it is today.
The gardening club first put down a material to keep grass and weeds from growing. Then they cut slits around the side of the material and got a pole with a spike on the end and put it in the slits and made a hole for the long branches.
This made an out line and then the gardening club got the short branches and wove them around the long branches to make the dome.
In the future we hope for the dome to sprout and grow.

Year 4's Barnum Dance
Year 4 performed a clown dance to the music from Barnum. The dance was made up of three parts. firstly there was the sad and graceful beginning where all the clowns were looking for their lost friends. Then the happy part where they found their friends and started clowning around. Finally the ending where there was a circus parade.
The children worked in pairs in four groups. The dance was shown to an audience made up of roughly 180 children and adults from Years 2-5. It took approximately five weeks to organise and practise.
The year 4 children said that "It was fun and exciting but exhausting."
Mr. Doyle the headteacher exclaimed "I've got a bone to pick with you teachers. You didn't tell me it was going to be that good.?

On the 20th of January year 4 took a visit to the museum and the Connections Center. They went to find out about the Ancient Egyptians, especially about mummification. They also had a look at the natural history section to investigate animals and their habitats. Mrs. Swinburn, Miss Roberts and Mrs. Swarbrick organized the trip. 7 parents also helped out on the day.
Some of the things they did included: taking part in a mummification workshop, completing a quiz about the mummy "Shep-en-mut" and completing a habitats quiz.

Exeter City V Manchester United
It was a great match. Exeter certainly gave United a run for their money.
I'm Adam and I was a mascot for the game. I walked out with Daniel Clay. I also met Gary Lineker.
Man U scored in the 9th minute from Christiano Ronaldo and it was a brilliant goal. Exeter then started to knuckle down and defend very well. A little bit later in the game Sean Devine scored but it was disallowed because it was offside.
Wayne Rooney scored a cracking goal in the 83rd minute. Last but not least Paul Jones the Exeter city goalie saved a brilliant shot from Paul Scholes.
All of Exeter City players played their best and it was unlucky for them not to win.

KS1 Nativity
Over the last few weeks Key Stage 1 have made a nativity play about the true meaning of Christmas. In it there were children dressed up as snow flakes, soldiers, angels, Christmas puddings, shepherds, kings and lots more.
The main character was played by a girl called Emma. This was the part of a little angel that was trying to find the true meaning of Christmas.
The little angel saw children decorating their Christmas tree, snow flakes falling, sparkling stars, Christmas puddings, soldiers marching and Father Christmas before she found the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Christ. Looking down through a hole in the roof the angel saw the baby being born with all the wise men and shepherds around bringing their gifts. The stars sang the songs as well as playing instruments. They played triangles, bells and a few other instruments. They wore white outfits that had a star on them and a head piece which had a silver or gold star on them.
The snow flakes danced on the stage. They twirled around. They wore a white outfit, which had white paper snow flakes stuck on them. The solders marched on to the stage. Then they marched on the spot and off of the stage.

Caring and Sharing
On Friday the 10th of December grandparents came to Redhills for Caring and Sharing which is an event where the pupils wait on the grandparents hand and foot. The grandparents had a Christmas dinner and Christmas pudding or Bakewell tart for dessert.
We raised money for the food by having a disco and a cake stall while the girls had a braiding club. We also prepared a few performances including dances and singing and the choir and pupils sang a few songs including 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' and 'I want to be like you' (from The Jungle Book. We also sang a few Christmas carols including 'Walking in a Winter Wonder land'.
Everyone had a great time.
